Sojourners denounces decision to send the National Guard to U.S.-Mexico Border
(WASHINGTON, D.C)— The Trump Administration recently announced plans to send National Guard troops to the U.S.-Mexico border to aid Border Patrol agents. Sojourners stands against this decision, as it is anti-Christian and a false solution to political problems that demand deeper answers.
“This decision highlights an anti-immigrant agenda and an obsession with further militarizing the border,” Jessica Cobian, Immigration Campaign Coordinator for Sojourners, said. “Millions of families have already seen an increase on enforcement in their communities. This is wasteful, dangerous, and ineffective. As people of faith, we plan to continue demanding accountability from Border Patrol agents and encourage better dialogue between U.S. Customs and Border Protection and border communities.”
