During its 100th anniversary celebration last week in St. Louis, the Associated Church Press honored Sojourners with 24 awards for work online and in print.
Sojourners’ website, sojo.net, received the Award of Excellence as the best Independent Website. Other first place awards include: best interview article (“The Art of Escape,” Erin Tocknell), best first-person online post (“Confessing My White Supremacy,” by Ryan Stewart), best magazine column (“Hearts and Minds,” by Jim Wallis), best print department (“Culture Watch,” by Julie Polter), best critical review (“Real Life, With Superpowers,” by Abby Olcese), and best humor writing (“First World Problems,” by Ed Spivey Jr.).
ACP is a professional organization promoting journalistic excellence among Christian communicators. A complete list of ACP awards can be found on its website.
At its annual convention earlier this month in Lancaster, Pa., the Evangelical Press Association honored Sojourners magazine and sojo.net with 15 awards, including first place awards for best feature article (“Nukes and the Pro-Life Christian,” by Karen Swallow Prior, Atsuyoshi Fujiwara, and Tyler Wigg-Stevenson) and best humor column (“First World Problems,” by Ed Spivey Jr.).
