African-American Women’s Equal Pay Day annually highlights the discrepancy in pay between white men and black women. The date, Aug. 23, acknolwedges how far into 2016 black women have to work to make pay equal to what white men made in 2015. To draw attention to this divide, #BlackWomensEqualPay trended on Twitter throughout the day.
Also on Aug. 23, the Washington Center for Equitable Growth published an interactive online database that compares compares how pay rates differ by gender, race, and education level:
