Clergy Came to Charlottesville

White supremacists marched in Charlottesville over the weekend. In counter-protest, dozens of faith leaders did, too.

As rally participants wearing swastikas and carrying torches gathered on the University of Virginia campus on Friday night, clergy led a worship service nearby at St. Paul’s Memorial Church. And early Saturday morning, after a dawn prayer gathering at First Baptist Church, dozens of clergy marched in silent protest of the presence of white supremacists, white nationalists, and neo-Nazis.

The multi-faith group led songs and communal prayer and insistently denounced white supremacy, hatred, and systemic racism.
