Professional sports and political issues have traditionally remained separate. But the new immigration law in Arizona is closing that divide. Wednesday evening, the Phoenix Suns wore "Los Suns" uniform jerseys in their NBA playoff game against the San Antonio Spurs. Team owner Robert Sarver, receiving unanimous support from his athletes, released a statement:
Our players and organization felt that wearing our 'Los Suns' jerseys on Cinco de Mayo was a way for our team and our organization to honor our Latino community and the diversity of our league, the State of Arizona, and our nation
