Amber Alert, Lord! What do we hear?
Someone is lost, Lord! We feel the fear.
Is it a child, Lord, taken from home,
Taken from loved ones, frightened, alone?
We hear the danger! What is the plan?
Gather as neighbors! Walk hand in hand!
We would move mountains, we’d sacrifice
To save a child, Lord, to save a life.
Down at the border, Amber Alert:
Children are taken, children are hurt.
Lord, this injustice must make you weep:
Why can’t their mothers sing them to sleep?
Why don’t we cry, Lord, why don’t we shout?
Why— as a nation— don’t we turn out?
Why don’t we stop and help as we would
For someone lost in our neighborhood?
You will judge nations based on their deeds:
Will we respond to these families’ needs?
Christ, in the stranger can we see you?
Lord, in this crisis, what will we do?
