Rev. Jeffrey L. Brown is a nationally recognized leader and expert in gang, youth and urban violence reduction and coalition building. As the founder of RECAP or Rebuilding Every City Around Peace, an international initiative building partnerships between the faith-based community, government and law enforcement agencies to reduce gang violence, Brown is one of the architects of the “Boston Miracle,” which saw youth violence plummet by 79 percent in the 1990s. He serves as associate pastor of the historic Twelfth Baptist Church in Boston, one of the oldest African American churches in the nation. He is the author of a forthcoming book, The Courage to Listen, and Paramount Pictures is developing a feature film based on his experiences.
