Kevin is an accomplished senior executive and board director, with more than 40 years as a transformational leader in financial services, technology, and the nonprofit sector. His broad areas of expertise include transformational change, finance operations, direct line management (including CFO, COO, and treasurer positions), technology implementation, cybersecurity, leadership development, and board governance. His nonprofit experience is focused on bringing operational excellence to the nonprofit sector, with a particular focus on developing leaders.
Kevin worked for Accenture and its predecessor organizations for 30 years. He retired as a senior managing director after leading multiple significant client relationships, heading several significant P&L groups with European and then global responsibilities, and developing a cadre of leaders who have excelled within Accenture and other organizations.
After retirement from Accenture, Kevin broadened his activities to include more focus on nonprofits, including faith-based organizations. Kevin has been part of the lay leadership at churches in Germany and the U.S., serving as an Elder and Board Chair for multiple churches including his current church, BayMarin, in San Rafael, California. He has also served on the Boards of para-church organizations and impact investing nonprofits, as well as consulting for nonprofits.
Kevin’s involvement with Sojourners dates to 1984-86. He and his wife, Laurie, worshiped with the Sojourners’ community and volunteered with the Sojourners’ Neighborhood Center while they were on assignment in Washington, D.C. They helped launch the Sojourners’ Vision Circle as its inaugural members and Kevin has served as a Sojourners board member since 2013. He is currently the board co-chair.
Kevin is married to Laurie Carnahan, and they live in San Anselmo, Calif., in the San Francisco Bay Area. They have three adult daughters, a son-in-law, and two grandchildren.
