The Archbishop of Canterbury, in his annual New Years speech last year, warned that his grandson would "discover a world of shocking inequality, a 20:80 world where 20 percent of us consume 80 percent of the natural resources."
To address the archbishop's dystopic view, a new ecumenical coalition—"Just Share"—has formed in London. Its goal is to enact sweeping reforms in the way Britain does business by altering rules on how capital is controlled, canceling Third World debt, promoting socially ethical investment and sustainable ecological practices, and working to overhaul international trade practices. The coalition held a series of events in London this spring focused on economic justice in light of intensifying globalization.
