I AM AN ANGLICAN priest living and working near Ottawa, Ontario, and I have enjoyed your superb magazine for many years as an educational resource, a trigger for prayers, an aid to homily preparation, and so on. I look forward to receiving every issue and wish there could be more.
I was pleased to read the new "Living The Word" section. I think that you have found yet another fascinating perspective—overviews of books in scripture are often sacrificed as we dissect the passages verse by verse. As usual I can’t wait for the next issue!
But (sorry) why did you discard the reflections on the lectionary? I have found it to be a rare and wonderful help as I look for an opening into scriptures for a particular Sunday—the thoughts were always concise, relevant, rich, and helpful. The fact that they are current is significant—so many commentaries and reflections quickly become dated. That they come out of Sojourners is also significant—I expect them to be political, honest, and challenging. I am not aware that there is anything similar published anywhere. I would encourage you to seriously consider reinstating the section. Thanks and keep up the good work!
