I WAS EXTREMELY disappointed in the article on Operation Rescue that appeared in the August 1993 issue ("Reaching Across the Barricades"). In my opinion Operation Rescue is nothing more than a terrorist organization bent on preventing women from exercising a constitutional right. Indeed, I compare the activists in Operation Rescue to the southern white racists who tried to prevent African Americans from voting.
I applauded Sojourners a few issues back when you exposed the hypocrisy and double standard of the Shining Path in Peru. However, Marcia Timmel refuses to expose the dark side of Operation Rescue--such as the copying of license plate numbers, harassment of clinic personnel, and chemicals being sprayed into clinics.
