THERE HAVE BEEN many times over the many years of my membership in Sojourners that I have almost written—articles that moved, inspired, amused, or delighted me. This time I must write, for the interview with John DiIulio ("With Unconditional Love," September-October 1997) speaks to my life work with children with disabilities.
And I must distribute this article across this adopted home of mine, a place where religion still divides as well as inspires, where poverty is still too often seen by some as a sin of the person's own choosing rather than a societal sin for which we are all responsible, and from which we all suffer whether directly or indirectly.
