THANK YOU FOR naming the experience of ecumenism ("All Together Now!" by Jim Wallis, with others, May-June 1997). Many people in my parish have had their children marry into different denominations. Their joy is that they can be welcomed as "family" in all those different denominations. Small rural churches have been doing mission together. A recent study of the membership of the United Church of Canada showed almost a third of our members were born Catholic. In my experience, the people in the pews are far more ecumenical than the church hierarchy!
Your article showed me how church renewal is primarily a spiritual renewal, and all those church growth marketers will achieve nothing if there isnt first and foremost a true spiritual center which is worth sharing. Keep up the inspiriting work.
